With this service, you will have the opportunity to receive the care and support you need from a specialized midwife, who will visit you at your home on scheduled dates and times. The service includes the following:

Visit from a specialized midwife during pregnancy

The midwife will visit your home to inform you about the progress of your pregnancy, examine you, and provide advice on your health and the well-being of your baby. Additionally, she will offer painless childbirth classes, where you will learn:

  • The physiology of childbirth, including the changes occurring in your body and your baby’s during the process.
  • The positions and postures for labor, which are the ways you can position your body to facilitate the progress of labor and reduce pain.
  • Pain relief methods, including the natural or medicinal techniques you can use to alleviate the intensity and sensation of pain during labor.
  • Breathing techniques, which involve ways to control your breathing and relax your body and mind.

The childbirth education classes will help you prepare psychologically and physically, increase your confidence in your abilities, experience a natural and positive labor, and welcome your baby.

Postpartum Visit

The midwife will visit you at home after the birth to provide the necessary care and support for you and your baby. The postnatal visit includes the following:

Breastfeeding

The midwife will train you on breastfeeding, including how to breastfeed your baby safely and effectively. She will show you:

  • Breastfeeding Positions: The best positions you can adopt to breastfeed your baby comfortably and create a proper bond between mother and child.
  • Breast Hygiene Tips: How to care for your breasts, avoid injuries, and handle potential complications such as mastitis, skin issues, or nipple damage.
  • Nutritional Advice: Foods you can consume to enhance milk production, meet your nutritional needs as well as those of your baby, and avoid foods that might cause allergies or indigestion in your baby.

Breastfeeding is a natural and healthy process that connects the mother with her baby and offers numerous benefits for their health and development. The midwife will help you overcome any difficulties and enjoy breastfeeding as a special experience.

First Postpartum Visit

The midwife will visit you at your home after childbirth and will educate you on caring for your baby, including how to care for, clean, and protect your baby from potential infections. She will show you:

  • Diaper Changing: How to change your baby’s diaper safely and hygienically, choose the right diaper for your baby’s size and gender, and prevent irritation and allergies.
  • Bathing: How to bathe your baby with lukewarm water, select suitable hygiene products for your baby’s skin and hair, and dry and dress your baby carefully.
  • Umbilical Cord Care: How to clean and disinfect the area where the umbilical cord was attached, monitor its healing and detachment, and recognize signs of inflammation or infection. As long as the baby has the umbilical stump, it is essential to care for it 3-4 times a day with sterile gauze and a little alcohol, moving from the inside out. During this time, avoid submerging the baby in water, and instead wash the baby locally.
  • Eye Drops and Nasal Spray: The medications needed to protect your baby’s eyes and nose from congestion.
  • Blood Sampling and Guthrie Card: The tests required for your baby to check for anemia, hyperbilirubinemia, hypothyroidism, and metabolic disorders such as phenylketonuria or cystinuria.
  • Postpartum Check: The condition of the wound caused by the placenta’s expulsion, the amount and appearance of bleeding, the possibility of inflammation or infection, and advice for healing and avoiding complications.
  • Possible Baby Colic: Painful spasmodic cramps that may cause the baby to cry persistently, clench its fists, and raise its legs. The midwife will inform you about the potential causes of colic, provide advice on managing it, such as tummy massage and other methods, and offer support and guidance to help you overcome your baby’s colic and improve your quality of life.
  • Mother’s Wound Care: The condition of the wound caused by the incision in the case of a cesarean section, or the episiotomy in a vaginal delivery, which is performed on the skin and muscle of the perineum to facilitate the baby’s exit. The midwife will inform you about the healing and removal of stitches, the amount and appearance of bleeding, the possibility of inflammation or infection, and will give advice on wound care, healing, and avoiding complications.
  • Nutrition Advice: Foods you can consume to regain your strength, boost your immune system, and avoid foods that may negatively affect your health or your baby’s health.

The midwife will also check the health status of you and your baby and provide additional advice and instructions according to your needs. The postpartum visit includes:

  • Monitoring the baby’s weight and height, meaning measuring your baby’s weight and height according to the normal ranges for their age and sex. The midwife will inform you about your baby’s growth and provide advice on how to support it.
  • Checking the baby’s vaccinations, meaning confirming that your baby has received the necessary vaccines to protect them from serious diseases such as bronchitis, diphtheria, hepatitis B, polio, measles, rubella, mumps, and chickenpox. The midwife will inform you about the vaccination schedule and provide advice on handling possible side effects, such as fever, pain, or inflammation at the injection site.
  • Assessing your psychological state, meaning evaluating your level of happiness, satisfaction, and self-esteem, as well as detecting potential signs of depression, anxiety, or stress you might be experiencing postpartum. The midwife will offer support, understanding, empathy, and provide advice to improve your mental health and address any issues you might be facing.

The postpartum visit will help you confirm that everything is going well for you and your baby and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Additional Services

In addition to the basic visits during and after childbirth, “Noseleia Tora” offers several additional services, which include:

Before Childbirth:

  • Blood Glucose Curve and Prenatal Screening: Tests needed to check for the presence of gestational diabetes and potential indicators of chromosomal abnormalities in your baby, such as Down syndrome or Edwards syndrome.
  • NIFTY Test Kit for Genetic Abnormalities: A test that can be done with a simple blood sample from the mother and can accurately detect over 99% of genetic abnormalities in your baby, such as Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, Patau syndrome, Turner syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, and others.
  • Breast Pump Rental: We provide the option to rent an electric or manual breast pump from our company, allowing you to store your milk and provide it to your baby when you are unable to breastfeed directly.
